Biography
Lynette Barnard was born on the 21st day of May 1963 in Bloemfontein, known as the ‘Good old Capital’ of the Free State. She matriculated in 1981 at the Afrikaans School for Girls – ‘Oranje Meisies Skool’ and then studied art with ceramic design as her main subject. She got married in 1985 and moved to a farm in the Rustenburg. She has also worked as a full-time studio potter.
Lynette lived there for nearly 14 years and was blessed with two beautiful girls – Jarmila the eldest, born in 1991 and Karsia, born in 1993. During 1998 Lynette had to move to Bronkhorstspruit where she has been staying ever since.
Although she’s been working with paint all her life, she began to paint more seriously from 1988, finding inspiration from the likes of Father Claerhout. She has been working in all types of media namely, acrylic, oil, gold leaf, pastels and oil pastels.
“To paint is to be in another world, a world where you need to lap into a fourth dimension, which I like to call – the store house of God”.
