Jules Monnickendam Biography
J. Monnickendam (1874-1943)
Jules was a Dutch Jewish artist known for cityscapes, harbour scenes, and genre paintings. Trained in Amsterdam and Paris and known to have been associated with the George Breitner School. Celebrated for works depicting Dutch towns and canals. Jules dies in Amsterdam while awaiting deportation as a Jew during the Holocaust.
