Terry Angelos

Terry Angelos Biography

Born in 1969, I grew up barefoot and wide-eyed in the wilds of Zimbabwe, where war and wonder lived side by side. My earliest memories are soaked in nature and contradiction — making mud pies, collecting butterflies, rescuing baby birds, living with guns and roadblocks, and asking far too many questions.

Over the years, I’ve built a versatile creative career as an artist, illustrator, author and speaker rooted in storytelling and nature. My illustrations, predominantly in watercolor and ink, carry a sense of whimsy, wonder, and the slightly offbeat.
In 2021, I published my bestselling memoir White Trash: My Year as a High-Class Call Girl, a raw and redemptive exploration of identity, shame, and reinvention. Writing it liberated something in me. It showed me the power of narrative to make sense of a tangled past and erase shame with compassion.

Today, I live on the edge of a river in Durban, South Africa, surrounded by tropical jungle, where the birds are noisy, the light is golden, and everything is a little bit overgrown.
My studio is filled with collected curiosities — feathers, bones, seed pods, and fragments of pattern and story. I’m married to the love of my life, my three children are all grown, and I share the space with a scrappy little pug named Juniper.
Terry Angelos Studio is more than just a workspace. It’s a reflection of a lifetime of experiences — a place where art, storytelling, and memory come together.
